There’s once more a new issue in Shopify which has been ongoing a few weeks now (never happened before), which I initially attributed to excel creating problems in excel csv files when SKU numbers convert to scientific notations, meaning a number like 1234567890 will look like 4.46E+26.
I went to correct the issue in excel [Data - Text to Columns - fixed width - Next - Next - Column Data Format: Text - Finish]. The file was fine. But uploading it to Shopify all SKU numbers convert to scientific notations again.
I then used a different excel, Google’s excel, in case there was problems with excel saving the SKU properly in csv. But, no, there was nothing wrong with the file and the SKU’s are accurately displayed.
So I uploaded the product file again - and all SKU’s again convert to scientific notations once in Shopify. They also export as scientific notations from Shopify. I have no energy to spend another 2000th hour with support on Shopify chat.
Any quick fix please? It’s impossible to setup advertising campaigns until this is solved since the ad campaigns need to show product SKU numbers to not get banned or blocked.
Shopify has a poor development team who never appear to check for technical errors every time they tinker with something, creating problems for store owners. There’s ANOTHER problem I discovered today… some of the apps can’t be opened and get the message "Your browser needs to authenticate… " which means approve cookies although there is no block on cookies.
It just never ends the sheer volume of time a shop owner has to deal with these problems. And they will never credit or refund you either, if it causes delays or losses to you.
CSV file is already formatted as a text file. When you upload Shopify reverts the file back to default numbers file. So, yes, it is frustrating when none of the solutions are actual solutions.
