Shopify doesn't save my texts on the product description

Topic summary

Issue: After typing a long product description and clicking Save, a red error appeared, the page reloaded, and all entered text was lost. The user asked if the text could be recovered.

Recovery: Responders confirm that any text not successfully saved in the product description cannot be recovered.

Prevention guidance: Save at regular intervals to avoid losing large amounts of work. The Shopify Admin shows an “unsaved changes” banner with options to discard or save—use this prompt to ensure changes are captured.

Troubleshooting next steps: A Shopify staff member asks if the error can be reproduced and requests a screenshot to investigate. They note this loss should not occur unless the page was left idle or became unresponsive.

Status: No way to retrieve the lost description. Discussion remains open pending the user’s reproduction steps and screenshots. No images or attachments were provided.

I typed a lot in the description of my product. Then I clicked Save but some red box said that some kinda errors occur. The page then reloaded and I lost all my previous typing on the product description. Are there any ways I could get those back?

Hi @duong-nguyen ,

This is Kate from PageFly - Landing page builder,

I’m sorry to hear that you lost your product description. Unfortunately, if you did not save a copy of your work elsewhere, it is unlikely to recover the lost text once it has been lost.

Hi, @duong-nguyen !

Welcome to Shopify Community.

As mentioned by our fellow users, any text that was not saved is no longer recoverable from your product text box.

When you are typing descriptions in the future, you will notice that the Admin presents a banner that shows there are unsaved changes with the option to discard or save. It’s a good idea to hit save at regular intervals to prevent losing large amounts of work.

With that being said, the main reason I wanted to follow up was to ensure this does not happen for you again. Are you able to reproduce the errors you saw? If so, can you show me a screenshot example? Unless you left the page for some time or it became unresponsive due to lack of activity, then this shouldn’t happen.

I look forward to your reply,
