Shopify downtime update: Service restored

Hi everyone,

We’re aware that some merchants experienced downtime on Shopify. Service has since recovered and Shopify is operating normally.

For the latest platform updates, you can also check our Status page: https://www.shopifystatus.com/

If you’re still noticing any issues, please try local troubleshooting first, like clearing your browsing cache and reloading the page, or testing in an incognito/private window. If the problem continues after that, contact our 24/7 Support team so we can take a closer look.

Thanks for your patience.

Please note that we’ve merge similar reports into this thread. Thanks again for sharing your experience and feedback with the community.

Hello there, anyone has the same problem of getting this error message while trying to visit his store? “store doesn’t exist”

yes i am getting it also

Hello, @pontevecchio @Forkula
Don’t worry, your store is safe—Shopify is currently facing a platform-wide outage that is causing ‘store doesn’t exist’ errors for many users. The engineering team is already working on a fix, and everything will return to normal once the status page shows all systems are ‘Operational’.

Yes. our store ROLARA is experiencing the issue.

and what about the sales we miss due to this error?

I can’t believe the default error message shown to potential customers is “This store does not exist.” Are you f’ing kidding me?!?!

yes my site is down also https://bonkabirdtoys.com/ cant seem to get in touch with anyone

this is completely outrageous, the message given that the store do not exist it makes us lose the customers trust, and we cannot contact the support even

The reality is that Shopify’s central servers are experiencing a temporary crash, which is preventing data from fetching and causing stores to show the ‘does not exist’ error. Unfortunately, Shopify does not offer any financial compensation or reimbursement for sales missed during this downtime, as this is outlined in their terms of service.

The immediate impact is a temporary halt in your sales, and if you have any paid ads running, that budget could go to waste. It is highly recommended to pause your active ad campaigns for now; once Shopify’s system returns to ‘Operational’ status, high-intent customers will naturally return to complete their purchases and everything will go back to normal.

yes this is the main problem of this situation. I have contracts that clients need to sign and if they click on the link to read the terms&conditions they see “This store does not exist”. At least make a better landing page for this cases explaining the issue. It can’t be that our customers read that message on a purchase, especially for high ticket.

I have the same issue for my website.

comletely agree.. they need to handle this cases at least with a nice and curated landing page for customers reading this error page

When I got in to work, I saw the same “does not exist” message and checked Shopify status and it showed everything operational. I immediately went to chat and it said “less than 5 minutes” to chat with a human (LOL). When I finally connected with someone after a long wait, they just pasted a message saying there was an issue & immediately terminated the chat. Of course, by that time the status page indicated an “event.” It is ALWAYS frustrating dealing with Shopify Support. Years ago it was little better when you could call and (sometimes) get a customer service agent who actually knew what was going on. And totally agree that they should create a better landing page for the error–customers think we’ve closed shop!

During today’s incident (Shopify Status, June 3, 2026, ~09:27 EDT — partial outage affecting Admin, Checkout, Storefront, and Retail POS), both my live storefront and my admin displayed the “This store does not exist.” page — complete with “Explore other stores,” “Start a free trial,” and “Open a new Shopify store” promotions. I checked other live Shopify stores at the same time and they showed the exact same page, so this was the platform’s outage fallback, not a store-specific problem.

I want to flag why this is a real issue for merchants, not just a cosmetic one:

  1. To a customer, “This store does not exist” is indistinguishable from a closed or fraudulent store. A customer who just placed an order and comes back to check on it will reasonably assume they’ve been scammed — opening the door to chargebacks, payment disputes, bad reviews, and lasting damage to trust, none of which the merchant caused.

  2. The page actively markets “Start a free trial” and “Open a new Shopify store” to our own paying customers, during an outage on Shopify’s side. Showing competitor/sign-up CTAs to a live merchant’s customers while that merchant is down is the wrong call.

A simple, neutral, store-branded “temporarily unavailable — we’ll be back shortly” maintenance page would solve this, and the promotional CTAs should never appear on a page served to the customers of an established, active store.

Did anyone else see this on their store today? Adding your experience here helps. And if a Shopify staff member sees this, I’d appreciate it being passed to the Online Store / storefront reliability team as product feedback.

Hi, thanks for checking in. The cause was a Shopify-side platform outage — it’s listed on the Shopify Status page for June 3, 2026 (~09:27 EDT) as a partial outage affecting Admin, Checkout, Storefront, and Retail POS. So it wasn’t store-specific; several other merchants saw the same “This store does not exist” page at the same time.

It’s fully resolved now — my storefront, domain, SSL, and orders are all back to normal, and the page is no longer showing.

To be clear, my point in this thread isn’t that the outage happened (those are rare and understandable). It’s that during the outage Shopify served a “This store does not exist” page with “Start a free trial” promos instead of a proper “temporarily unavailable” maintenance page — which, to a customer, looks like a closed or scam store. That’s the part I’d like Shopify to fix.

Calling it an “incident” is kind of a stretch… it was like 5 minutes where they had issues with the server. Honestly, we’ve seen much more outages in the past. And it will happen again. Calm down lol it’s not the end of the world…

Fair enough — though “incident” is actually Shopify’s own word for it on their status page, not mine.

And I agree: outages happen, this one was short, no panic here. But that’s not really my point. The issue is the page they showed during it — “This store does not exist” next to “Start a free trial.” A customer mid-order doesn’t know it’s a 5-min blip; they just think they got scammed. A simple “temporarily unavailable” page would fix that — and it protects your store next time too.

This isn’t an accurate account of the situation at all. I had several apps that were just non-functional for hours. My store was up, but the underlying connection was broken and this was confirmed with support converations with the app devs. End of the world? No of course not. 5 min outage? Not even close and yeah you missed the entire point of the post - which is a valid critisim and completely valid in my (and serveral others’) opinions. Incident is the correct and actually less severe term for this. I’d call it an outage - but maybe that’s lol, too severe for you?

It’s really not a big deal. This happens all the time. At least every other month. But usually everyone knows to calm down and wait. But it seems a lot of people think posting here is going to help anything.

As far as what the page says, well if the system can’t find your store, what do you think it should say? That’s a standard “store doesn’t exist” page. It’s not the content of the page that was the issue, it’s the reason why that page showed in the first place.

And yes I checked most posts that included their links as soon as they posted and was able to see their stores no problem. No doubt you experienced issues. But complaining in a public forum that Staff doesn’t even visit anymore is pointless.. We all know Shopify has issues.
