Shopify Duties → can we set logic based on shipping line selected at checkout? What’s the best way of doing this.
The origin location for orders shipped changes after checkout depending on the shipping line so the standard duties solution doesn’t work. Let me know if anyone’s found a solution here!
This is actually a common accounting issue when the shipping origin changes after checkout. Since the real duty isn’t know until the carrier/import statement, many stores don’t rely on Shopify’s duty calculation. Instead they:
Hold duties collected as a liability, post the real duty after fulfillment and clear the difference so payouts reconcile.
Keeps your margins accurate even though checkout can’t adjust yet, there’s a simple workflow for it.
