I’ve just downloaded the Shopify Email app and I would like to send emails to around 100 people that are interested in my service but are currently not yet subscribers. What would be the quickest and easiest way to do this please? I have email addresses for all of them but they aren’t in any kind of database. I can seem to even send one email to a non subscriber in Shopify email!
That’s an interesting question. You see, for data protection reasons, a visitor would need to voluntarily submit their contact information in order for you to send them marketing material.
So with Shopify Email, you can only email people who opt-in to receive emails from your business. You will see those customers listed with an Accepts marketing indicator on their customer page. Shopify Email filters out any customers that do not accept email marketing for you.
How has this list of people indicated to you directly that they are interested in your service? Was it via another platform? Social media? Whichever way they contacted you, you should reach back out to them through the same medium and direct them to your website as well as encourage them to sign up for your newsletter.
What kind of services do you sell? And what stage are you at with your store development?
That is helpful, thank you. I’m still in the early stages, just launched the website and working things out slowly.
Another question I have is can I email other businesses via this app?
I assume the privacy rules for individuals won’t apply for businesses but it doesn’t appear to be easy to add them to my mailouts with this app either!
Thanks so much for your reply here. It sounds like you are looking for a way to just send mail to businesses, however, given the privacy settings within Shopify Email, require them to have consented to receive these first, is that right?
Shopify Email itself would not be able to differentiate which are personal email accounts and which are business emails. Even if those privacy policies would be interpreted differently for those entities in this case, the app cannot do that.
Is this list of businesses a large list? What I might suggest doing is sending them an email from your email account itself, in BCC, such that each recipient will not know who else has gotten the email. Then within the email body, include a link to your newsletter sign-up page on your store, encouraging them to then sign up.
Although businesses are entities, it is still important to realize that they are still run by humans, so there are some things to keep in mind while marketing to them.
Through analytics and well-crafted marketing, B2B purchase decisions can be predicted, measured, and improved upon.
Everything starts with your audience. Develop a deep understanding of their motivations, their pain points, and the things they care about most.
The decision to buy is a journey. Thoughtfully design each phase to keep potential customers engaged as they move through your marketing funnel.
Monitor performance and iterate until you find what really works.
Ultimately, decision-makers are still humans. Speaking and treating them as such will greatly improve the likelihood of a long-standing and profitable relationship with them.
