Shopify & Facebook - Catalog content ID mismatch blocking use of Dynamic/Catalog Retargeting ads

Hi all

Hope you can help.

I have the Facebook app installed, which syncs my products to a Facebook Catalog as a partner platform data source in Facebook Commerce Manager. This sends Purchase events to Facebook Ads. While my ViewContent/Add to Cart events are sent by Google Tag Manager as I have a hybrid setup with a Wordpress site hosting my product listing/detail pages, where only the Checkout is hosted by Shopify).

My issue is that in Facebook Commerce Manager is registering almost no events - and the few it does see it says have mismatched content ids.

Events are definitely being sent - as I see these in Facebook Events Manager with parameters.

The Shopify purchase events parameters (which I have no control over as sent by the Shopify integration) include content_type = product_group, and the content_ids = item group ID (not the variant id).

So I have replicated that in my ViewContent & Add To Cart event tags.

I have verified all events using both GTM preview mode and Chrome Meta Pixel Helper. I also have CAPI set up, via the integration on the purchase event and GTM/GCP on ViewContent & Add to Cart. The issues occur even with CAPI deactivated.

Yet the notification in Commerce Manager Catalog Events area suggests it wants variant IDs not item group ID’s -hence the mismatch.

Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Best

Richard
