Shopify store with a main .RO domain has a fully translated .BG domain live via Translate & Adapt. The merchant wants to run Facebook and Google Shopping for the Bulgarian version.
Facebook Catalog: The BG catalog does not appear when connecting to Facebook. Goal is to have Facebook detect the BG feed and show product titles in Bulgarian. The merchant asks if using Flexify for Facebook (a product feed generator) could help.
Google Merchant Center: Based on Google’s support page, Bulgarian is not a supported language for Shopping ads/free listings. The merchant seeks a workaround to include Bulgarian in Google Shopping, or alternatively use English and redirect Bulgarian users to the English site. They ask if Simprosys Google Shopping Feed could be a viable solution.
Technical context: Facebook Catalog is the product data feed used for Facebook/Instagram listings; Google Merchant Center manages Shopping feeds and enforces language support.
Status: No resolutions yet; the thread is an open request for guidance and app recommendations.
I’m dealing with 2 issues and could really use your help.
I have a main website on a .RO domain and I’ve added the Bulgarian language using a .BG domain.
So far everything is fine — the .bg domain works and the site is fully translated.
Issue 1: Facebook Catalog
The problem appears when connecting the Facebook catalog for the BG domain.
Basically, the BG catalog doesn’t show up at all.
The website is translated using Translate & Adapt.
How can I make Facebook detect the BG catalog and display the product titles in Bulgarian as well?
Would Flexify for Facebook help in this case?
Is there any workaround to add Bulgarian to Google Shopping, or do I need to use English and redirect users to the English version?
Would Simprosys Google Shopping Feed be a viable solution?
Thanks in advance — any info or experience would help a lot!
issue 1: if you are looking specifically for an app, then a data feed solution like adnabu can help create localized data feed URL even for the bulgarian language as shown in the screenshot below.
you can copy this url and use it to create a country and language feed on Meta to display products, their details and prices to shoppers in their local language.
issue 2: i don’t think there is a workaround and you shouldn’t try that as it can result in your account getting suspended
For Google Shopping, because Bulgaria is not supported, you can not target Bulgaria in any language. The issue is not language specific, it’s just that Google does not support the country as of writing.
For Facebook, a tool like Flexify can come in handy as it enables you to map any translated product titles and descriptions to the catalog feed, so Facebook can detect the language. Ensure that your BG domain feed is separate, and that it is properly linked in Business Manager.
For Google, unfortunately, Merchant Center does not fully support Bulgarian as language for product listings. The best way is to utilize English or any supported language and redirect users browsing your .BG domain to that one for Google Shopping. Apps like Simprosys feed can assist in translating and managing multiple feeds but the feed language still needs to be one of Google supported languages.
Generally, this still causes a lot of yellow dating-out error issues. Typically you will get better results by optimising each domain individually in the tools designed for each.
