I found an expert on the Expert Marketplace and he has encouraged me to pay upfront via Wise instead of via Shopify. He said that Shopify adds a 10% fee on top of what I owe him, I asked for an invoice and it seems to just be 10% more, there’s no indication anywhere that Shopify is adding 10% and I can’t find anything online about any fees.
Can anyone clarify whether this is true or if it’s a scam?

Being a developer for the last 4-5 Years, I assure you any platform be it Shopify or anyone else always charges some amount as commission if the customer chooses to hire via that platform.
After that PayPal charges some commission on that, so the expert is right about the charges.
However, would request you cause while paying an expert. Don’t pay too much amount as an advance deposit and ask him to do any task with the back up theme.
Once you verify the task and make the final payment after the code is merged with the live theme.
