Shopify Forms for snail mail

Topic summary

A user is setting up a Shopify form to collect physical mailing addresses for a USPS-delivered newsletter but faces two challenges:

Technical Issue:

  • Email field is required by default but not needed for this use case
  • Wants to remove the email field entirely to reduce form clutter
  • Using a multi-line field for mailing addresses but uncertain about its long-term practicality

Compliance Question:

  • Seeking guidance on required disclaimer language for US physical mail collection
  • Notes that default “marketing email” template doesn’t apply since no email marketing will occur
  • Wants to ensure legal compliance with any applicable laws

The discussion remains open with no responses yet addressing either the form customization options or the legal requirements for physical mail opt-ins.

Pretty much as the title says. I am creating a form for people to sign up for a physical newsletter that will be sent through USPS. I don’t really want people’s emails, just first and last names and their mailing address. It says email is required, and I’d kinda rather get rid of the field full stop- it just makes the whole form look bulky. I’ve put in a “multi line field” for the actual address, but I’m not sure how practical that will be overtime.

Also, in the USA, is there any specific wording that needs to be used for the disclaimer? The “marketing email” template in place doesn’t apply, because I will never create such marketing to send out, but if there are particular laws that say I need to have a disclaimer I certainly want to abide by that.
