I refunded a customer $300 of his $750 order. I process the refund and as soon as I did the app crashed and closed on me (I’m using my Iphone to do the transaction). I open back the app and the refund did not show in the transaction history so I redid the refund. As soon as I redid the refund, both refunds are now appearing in the trasnaction history. Since you cant call shopify, I immediately contacted shopify by way of online chat and spoke to " CSR". This was within 3 mins of the trasnaction. I explain the situation and they apologized for the error and assured they will get it taken care of. When speaking to their CSR reps, all they are doing is reading from a script and saying the samething like:
I am going to escalade this for your.
I will be sure to express the urgency of this matter
I am working with my backend
I am prioritizing this matter for you, thank you for your patience
I deeply understand your concern
24 hours later I get a message from someone claiming to be Thomas from the “Shopify Technical merchant Support” Stating that the refund has already been sent to the customer so they advise me to send the customer a invoice and have them pay it. You all know how that went, explain this to the customer, sent the invoice and now hes ghosting me after he claimed he paided the invoice when he didnt.
This is the kicker: " to acknowledge the inconvenience this situation has caused, I’d be happy to offer you a retentionn credit towards your next months subsciption". My subsciption is only 29.99. So they’re going to steal $300 from me and in return offer me a credit for 29.99
Once my orders are all shipped I will no longer be using Shopify. I would suggest to go with a company where you can speak to a live person and not just CSR reciting all of the same language pretending that they’re helping you or speaking to “the backend department” or escalading matters higher.
One way or another Shopify will have to pay someone 300$$ A credit of 29.99 will not make me go away.
