Shopify Inline 3D Model Issues – Need Help Locking Vertical Rotation + Fixing Scale/Center

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using Shopify’s built-in 3D model viewer (<model-viewer>) on my product page, and I’m trying to create a clean, controlled inline 3D experience.

Here’s exactly what I’m trying to achieve and where I’m stuck:

What I want:

  1. Inline 3D interaction (NOT opening in a new tab)

    • I want customers to rotate the model directly on the product page.

  2. Horizontal rotation only

    • Users should be able to rotate left/right

    • :cross_mark: I want to disable vertical (up/down) rotation completely

Hi @FrogMan25 is should be something like camera-orbit="auto 90deg", or camera-orbit="0 90deg", as an attribute on the model-viewer element; possibly also disable-zoom
Or to DIY by burning time ask the sidekick assistant to make a section with specific behaviors.
:technologist: Note that just because you declare something in html/js doesn’t not mean the actual 3D file will magically behave in certain ways it wasn’t built for or doesn’t support.

In some cases a 3D model is overkill and a 360 image approch should be used instead, or even 360 video.
