Shopify Is Holding My Payouts With No Timeline for Resolution

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this and, more importantly, how you managed to get it resolved.

My Shopify store is live, orders have been fulfilled, and Shopify Payments is currently holding several thousand dollars of my payouts due to an issue updating my bank details.

I have provided every document requested, verified my identity, spoken to support multiple times, and the issue was escalated over 10 days ago. Since then, all I receive is the same response:

“It’s with the TRUST team. We have no timeline.”

As a small business owner, this is incredibly difficult. I’ve invested my own savings, spent countless hours building my business, launched successfully, and now I cannot access money that rightfully belongs to my company.

What concerns me most is not that there was a verification issue - these things happen. It’s that there appears to be no urgency to resolve it, no direct contact with the team handling it, and no estimated timeframe. For a company that positions itself as supporting entrepreneurs, this experience has been deeply disappointing.

Has anyone successfully escalated a Shopify Payments issue like this?

  • How long did it take to resolve?
  • Did you find a way to reach someone beyond standard support?
  • Is there a specific department or process that helped move things forward?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Joanna

Hey @JoannaAB

You’re far from alone with this, it’s a recurring pattern with Shopify Payments bank update and Trust holds, and the threads below are the same story, which is cold comfort but at least confirms it’s not something you did wrong.

Honest part: this forum can’t release the funds, the Trust team has no presence here, so posting alone won’t move it. What has actually shifted these for people is getting past the script to a real human. Keep replying inside your existing escalated case rather than opening new ones (new tickets reset your spot in the queue). Email the team directly with a short factual summary and your case number, and find someone on Shopify’s Payments or Trust team on LinkedIn and send that same tight summary, since a named person tends to break the loop when chat support keeps recycling “no timeline.” You’ve already submitted every document, so the lever now isn’t more chasing, it’s reaching someone who can actually action the file. Realistically these can still take a few weeks, so keep your full paper trail, and don’t let anyone push you into upgrading or paying anything to “unlock” it, the money is owed to you no matter how long it sits.

Hope that helps! If it did, a Like and Marking it as Solution goes a long way and helps others find the fix faster too.

Best,
Moeed

Hey Joanna
it’s usually a payout verification mismatch rather than the funds themselves being under dispute. From experience, the swiftest path is ensuring that your bank account name, business legal name and tax info all the way down to the last word including double spaces and punctuation, is identical character for character, word for word. Resubmit the bank details after correction of anything even minor as it can trigger a new review in the TRUST queue. Some merchants have also cured this by changing the payout bank to a different account under the same business name (e.g. Wise, Payoneer), completing verification again and resuming processing.
