Is there a Shopify app that allows merchants to continue selling out-of-stock products while also offering BOPIS for select products in specific store locations?
Yeah @Andrew_LA , I recently discovered this issue that one of my retailer friends was facing!
It’s quite surprising that Shopify’s “local pick-up” & “continue selling when out of stock” are two mutually exclusive features and merchants can only use one at a time.
Due to this, a Shopify merchant has to stop using Shopify’s native local pick-up because it interfered with their ability to take pre-and backorders online.
Whenever the merchant enabled both “continue selling” and “local pick-up”, Shopify would immediately start taking backorders for local-pick up even when items were out of stock in the store.
This led to large-scale cancellations and understandably left a bad taste in customers’ mouths.
Shopify is essentially forcing retailers to leave money on the table by not allowing them to offer these two omnichannel experiences concurrently.
I am sure there are some solutions that can solve this issue. If not, then it is an opportunity for tech enthusiasts to get a solution to this.
