Shopify Marketplace Connect App

Creating a discussion area, maybe Shopify can let us know when their Marketplace Connect app is working properly again for syncing with Ebay. Couldn’t find any news on it, but reddit has several discussions of people having trouble. Thought by opening a discussion here, Shopify themselves may be able to let us know when it’s fixed up. Thanks.

HI,

Joy V here from Marketplace Connect support team. Our developers has confirmed that the eBay API issue has already been fixed. However, due to the large backlog currently being processed, it may take some time for the images, listing updates and new listings to fully sync and publish on eBay.

We have added extra capacity to help process the backlog as quickly as possible. You may just monitor your listing for now and check back on them at a later time. Once the backlog has been processed, the listing errors should be clear and updates should then be published on eBay’s frontend.

Thank you for the update. I can confirm that the listings are still not updating/getting listed properly, but I will keep an eye on it.

Any further update on this, as it’s still not listing correctly over to Ebay. It was stated that it was fixed, but I can tell you that it is not. Thanks.

This issue is still not resolved. Can we please get an update on where we stand?

I have lost hours of work tweaking my listings to try and fix this image uploading issue.

Only to find out today it’s no my listings but the platform and this an ongoing issue.

Is there an ETA on this?

Hi,

The image error may continue to be returned by eBay while the existing backlog is still being processed. Once the backlog has been fully cleared, the image errors should begin to resolve, allowing new products and listing updates to sync and publish successfully.

At this time, we’re unable to provide an exact timeframe for when the backlog will be fully processed, as this depends on the volume of listings currently in the queue. We appreciate your patience and understanding while the backlog is being cleared.

This is getting worse instead of better. I just checked and inventory quantities are not syncing either. Found two products that we have sold out on our website (and not super recently, these are yesterday), that still show stock on Ebay for purchase. We’re going to start to get hit with sales with no stock if this isn’t fixed right away. We need a timeline.

At this point I would treat Marketplace Connect as unavailable for inventory control rather than waiting for the backlog. The immediate risk is overselling, not listing visibility.

For the sold-out SKUs:

  1. In eBay Seller Hub, manually set the quantity to 0 or end the affected fixed-price listings. That stops unavailable items from being purchased while the connector is unreliable.
  2. Make a short exception list of active eBay item IDs where Shopify available inventory is 0 but eBay quantity is still above 0. Recheck that list until the connector catches up.
  3. In the Marketplace Connect support chat, send the exact Shopify SKU/variant, eBay item ID, both quantities and the timestamps. That gives support a reproducible inventory-sync case rather than a general backlog report.

Shopify’s own documentation says linked listings should sync inventory, so an item sold out yesterday that still shows stock on eBay is not something I would treat as a harmless delay.

Roughly how many live eBay listings do you have, and do the Shopify and eBay SKU values match one-to-one? That determines whether a temporary exception sheet can be built quickly or whether the mapping itself also needs review.

Hey, @omegacanuck
Hope you are doing well!
We’ve also seen merchants mention issues with Marketplace Connect and eBay syncing. Hopefully Shopify can provide an update soon on what’s causing the problem and when a full fix is expected.

A follow up re: inventory sync (for clarification, so others can check their listings). If we have an item that sells on Ebay, it does seem to sync properly in that we get the order into shopify, and when we fulfill it in shopify, it syncs over to show it as shipped in Ebay. That’s still working. However, if we sell an item on our website that is co-listed over to Ebay, that inventory is not syncing the update. Thus, if we sell out of item X on our website, it will still be available to purchase on Ebay (but of course no inventory actually available), which is clearly a major problem.

That clarification isolates the failure mode: eBay-originated sales and fulfilment events are flowing back to Shopify, but Shopify-originated inventory decrements are not propagating to the linked eBay listing. So the immediate control should be a one-way inventory reconciliation, not a general connector audit.

If you can export your active eBay listings (item ID, SKU and quantity) and Shopify inventory (SKU/variant and available quantity), I can run a fixed-scope check on the first 100 linked listings and return:

  • mismatches where Shopify is 0 but eBay remains above 0
  • missing or duplicate SKU mappings
  • a high-risk list to zero or end immediately
  • a recheck sheet after corrections

No admin access would be required. The fixed price for that first 100-listing proof would be USD 79. If that is useful, tell me whether your SKUs match one-to-one and I’ll send the exact input checklist privately.

If there’s still a processing backlog, I’d probably avoid making any major listing changes for now. Even if the API issue is technically fixed, it doesn’t help much if the data is still delayed or syncing incorrectly.

I’d manually check the important eBay listings until things catch up.
