Shopify Markets works until Checkout

I’m trying to get Shopify Markets working correctly. My store is Canadian based, and I’d like to sell into the USA more effectively. My requirements are to display automatically converted USD prices to US visitors (by IP or manual selection), display some slightly different fixed prices to US visitors and charge those customers correctly (in terms of currency and taxes).

Right now, I’m using Markets and Geolocation. This appears to work fine. Users get the correct prices both in terms of automatic currency conversion and manually priced products. In the cart, they still see the prices correctly. Once they hit the check out page, the country is set correctly to United States (usually, but not always, sometimes it’s Germany?!), but the currency is CAD and Canadian taxes are applied. Customers are bailing on me.

I’ve tested this numerous times with different US VPN endpoints while clearing cookies. Shopify tech support doesn’t know what the problem is.

Anyone have this working? Am I barking up the wrong tree and I should be doing something else entirely?

Was this ever fixed? After updating my theme and having someone in the UK and US check my store they noticed this was happening to me too.
