Shopify not working

I have been getting the attached error , quite often , lately. My store is live and we cannot afford to have this kind of error , so often.

Can anyone guide on what we can do ? Have have taken Basic Shopify Plan , should I upgrade my plan ? Pls help.

Hey @SurTri

The issue which you’re referring to doesn’t have anything to do with the Shopify plan. I suggest you to try another browser or try clearing your cache files because sometimes when there’s a lot of cache files then Shopify usually gives this error.

Best,
Moeed

I have been using Chrome since quite sometime and also clear my cache regularly. But I dont see any improvement.

Did you try incognito mode or any other browser? Was the issue still happening then?

Hi @SurTri The 500 Internal Server Error indicates a failure on the server side (Shopify’s end) or a conflict preventing the server from processing your request. It is not a capacity issue.

Does upgrading my plan fix this?

No. Upgrading from the Basic Shopify Plan will not resolve a 500 error. This error is technical, not related to plan limits or bandwidth. Do not upgrade your plan solely to fix this issue.

Follow these steps in order to identify and resolve the issue:

Isolate the Browser Environment.

Cached data or browser extensions often conflict with the Shopify Admin. Log in to your Shopify store and navigate to the Orders page.

Result:

  • If it works: The issue is local to your browser. clear your cache and cookies for shopify.com and disable recently installed browser extensions.
  • If it fails: The issue is likely with Shopify or a store-installed App.

Investigate App Conflicts.

Third-party apps that interact with the Orders page (e.g., fulfillment apps, invoice generators, or custom order taggers) can crash the page load if they fail.

Action:

  • Go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.
  • Identify any apps installed or updated in the last 24–48 hours.
  • If possible, temporarily disable or remove the most recent app to see if the Orders page restores.

Contact Shopify Support

If the steps above do not resolve the issue, this is a backend failure requiring Shopify’s technical intervention.

Action: Log in to the Shopify Help Center and start a chat.

What to provide:

  • The Screenshot: (The one you uploaded here).
  • Timeline: When the error started.
  • Scope: Does it happen on “All Orders” or only when clicking a specific order?
  • Troubleshooting performed: Explicitly state that you have already cleared cache and tried Incognito mode (this prevents them from asking you to do it again).

Hope this helps.

Right now that error is not showing , I will try incognito mode .. next time.
