Shopify Orders and Google Analytics Major Mis-match in Orders

I am seeing a large discrepancy between the orders that Shopify reports versus Google Analytics. This started only a few days ago, while prior to that orders were fairly synced. I have double checked Signifyd & Global-e (fraud protection and Cross-border providers) and they sync with Shopify. The discrepancy has widen to 3-5 orders a day, at different times of the day.

My Google Analytics has enhanced ecommerce enabled, and my Shopify config for Analytics is as per Shopify documentation (Preferences with UA tag and no additional scripts). The only exception to this setup is a GTag script in the Theme.liquid for GA4. I also have a GTM script in the theme file, but there is nothing published in the container.

I have setup Shopify & GA maybe 20 different times, both manually (adding to theme & checkout files with datalayers for enhanced ecom & scripts for GAds dynamic remarketing) and the documented Shopify methods.

Crazy thing is everything was working fine, then GA & Shopify stopped syncing (Orders) 8/30/21. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @DitaDerrick ,

That seems very annoying that’s for sure! Something to note though is that there can be analytic discrepancies between Shopify and third party tracking services sometimes. The main reasons for this are discussed further in a help guide Shopify has for this here.

Are the orders still working ok in your store admin or is this only from an analytics point of view? If the orders aren’t working correctly in your admin, I would recommend reaching out to our support team directly about this to talk to one of our advisors in real time.

Did you find any resolution to this? We noticed a similar issue where at least half of our orders aren’t showing up on GA and there is no pattern as to why.

I am finding this has to do with iOS14-15 and consumers are opting out of GA and other tracking cookies.
