Shopify is changing a bit the structure for Partners. The traditional Shopify Partners Dashboard platform has the “Stores” feature deprecated.
Moving forward, partners will use the Dev Dashboard to control the stores they have access to or stores they build.
On top of that, control across the organisation will be restricted to roles. Nice feature that I really like. You probably saw this before, inside the stores. Having “Roles”. The new structure proposes:
- Organisation-level roles
Organisation Owner - Full control, one per org, and the only role that can transfer ownership.
Organisation Admin - Same as Owner minus the transfer ability. Can manage users, create custom roles, and access all stores. Unlimited of these.
Organisation User Admin - Can add/remove team members and assign existing roles, but can’t create or edit roles.
- Store-level roles
Store Admin - Full access to dev and client transfer stores. Can be scoped to specific stores or all.
Store User Admin - Manages users on specific stores, no store creation or editing. Also scopable.
- Specialist roles
App Developer - Dev Dashboard access for building and testing apps, including creating dev stores.
Collaborator Store Access - For external collaborators, where the merchant has granted access. Permissions are still merchant-controlled, and they can be scoped to specific relationships or all.
The new UI hasn’t been rolled out to me yet, as I still organise my team & manage stores inside the traditional Dashboard, but I expect the change to happen today/ tomorrow. What are your thoughts on this?
