Shopify payment sent to a closed checking account

I sold something on my Shopify account before I could update my checking account number. The funds were submitted to a closed, checking account and now the customer returned the item for a refund. If I process the refund through their order on Shopify, will it pull the money back to the customer or do I need to contact my bank?

If you never received the money for the initial payment/order, then you should definitely reach out to your bank.

If you’re using Shopify Payments and issue a refund after switching the bank account linked to it, then the refund will just be deducted from your future payouts.
