We are experiencing an ongoing issue with Shopify Payments payouts being held since June 4, 2026. It has now been almost four weeks, and we have not received a clear explanation, resolution timeline, or confirmation of when the funds will be released.
We have contacted Shopify Support and followed the instructions provided, but the issue remains unresolved. The responses we have received have not clarified:
Why the payouts are being held
Whether any additional information or documentation is required from us
Which team is currently reviewing the account
When we can realistically expect the payouts to be released
Holding business revenue for several weeks without a clear timeline creates a serious cash-flow and operational problem. We understand that Shopify may occasionally need to review accounts or transactions, but merchants should receive transparent communication, specific next steps, and a reasonable timeframe for resolution.
We are requesting that this case be escalated to the appropriate Shopify Payments, Risk, or Trust and Safety team for immediate review.
Has anyone else recently experienced payouts being held for several weeks? If so, how were you able to get the issue properly escalated and resolved?
We would appreciate a response from a Shopify representative who can help move this beyond the standard support process.
This is a public forum of merchants and partners, so no Shopify staff is going to action your account from here, and posting alone won’t move the hold, that’s just the reality of this space.
What actually shifts these for people stuck exactly like you: keep everything inside your existing case and reply there rather than opening new tickets, since new ones reset your place in the queue. Email the Trust and Risk team directly with a short factual summary and your case number. And find someone on Shopify’s Payments, Risk, or Trust team on LinkedIn and send them that same tight summary, because the named person route is what tends to break the loop when standard support keeps recycling “no timeline.”
I’ll be straight with you though, these reviews genuinely can run several weeks and they rarely give a firm release date, so the steps above improve your odds and speed but there’s no switch anyone here can flip. And don’t let anyone pressure you into upgrading or paying to “unlock” it, the money is owed to you no matter how long it sits.
Hope that helps! If it did, a Like and Marking it as Solution goes a long way and helps others find the fix faster too.
Hey @mantram9 .
Four weeks with no explanation is not acceptable, and you are right to escalate.
Standard support cannot fix this because they do not have access to the risk team. You need to go around them.
Message Shopify on Twitter or X publicly with your case number. This reaches a more senior team much faster than chat or email.
Also send a formal email to legal@shopify.com outlining the timeline and the business impact. A legal email gets treated very differently from a support ticket.
If nothing moves in the next few days, speak to a lawyer because holding business funds this long without explanation has legal implications.
