Please change back the shipping label workflow to the original single label flow for individual orders! The new workflow is designed exclusively for batch label creation, and it has made it considerably harder to process single orders. We also can no longer filter package sizes, and we have over 200 box sizes for different items. PLEASE revert this change. It’s made our jobs harder.
Topic summary
Main issue: A new shipping label workflow optimized for batch label creation made single-order processing slower and more complex. Merchants lost the ability to filter/choose from many package sizes (some use 200+), and needed many more clicks. “Single label workflow” refers to creating a label for one order; “batch” is for multiple orders at once.
Additional impacts: Even batch shippers reported regressions, citing removal of side drop-downs for selecting sizes and differentiating Labels vs. Packing slips, which increased clicks. Merchants stressed they choose carriers by destination, speed, and regional conditions, and the old layout showed all options on one screen for faster decisions.
Shopify response: Support acknowledged the feedback and passed it to developers, without an initial guarantee of reversion.
Latest update/outcome: Shopify reverted to the previous single label workflow. Merchants expressed appreciation for reversing the change and requested better advance communication and input opportunities for future updates.
Status: Resolved (reverted), with a noted need for improved change management.
Hi, @X_Sorin !
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We have updated the shipping label workflow to simplify it for merchants, but I understand that it may not work for your business. I have gone ahead and shared your feedback with our developers about your experience. I can’t guarantee the change will be reverted, but rest assured your thoughts have been documented!
Thank you again, and please let me know if you have any other questions.
Yes! This new label creation page for a single order is ridiculous. Why push us to the bulk/batch creation page for a single order. It makes it harder and more complicated.
This was a ridiculous update. If Shopify doesn’t fix it, you’ll probably see tons of users switching to another shipping app. But then again thats probably Shopify reason.
Not simpler, really. Might seem that way to developers, but it isn’t for us. We decide the best shipping depending on many factors: Where it is going, how fast they want it, are there any outside influences affecting that area of the country (weather, politics, etc), and the carrier (some are terrible in certain parts of the country). We try to do the best we can for the customer…not us. The old version showed us everything on one screen and enabled us to make the best decision. Now we have to hunt and peck all the different combinations… Not business smart!
I’ll just re-emphasis how bad this change has been. It takes us twice as long and many more clicks to complete an individual order, and we process all of our orders individually due to different products, weights, and package sizes. This change continues to create serious frustration. Please change it back!
It’s not better for batch shippers either. They took away the side drop downs to choose sizes for Labels vs Packing slips and quadrupled the amount of clicks it takes for me to batch print.
Shopify actually listened. They have reverted back to the “old” single label workflow.
Please let all know we truly appreciate that this change has been reversed!
I hope we can move forward with a better communication of changes coming and input from your customers (us shop owners) as to the effect they will have on our day-to-day.
