I’ve recently added all my products to Shopify and assigned them a SKU and Barcode. When I export the barcode labels and scan them with the Shopify POS app, the app gives the error message: “Barcode ‘Product SKU’ isn’t recognized”. While literally listing the right SKU-code in the error message, it doesn’t bring me straight to the right product and I have to manually type in the SKU the error message gave me to get to the product.
What does seem to work in some of the cases is when I delete the product’s barcode, save the product, add the same barcode again and save it again, but this only works in some of the cases.
I also made sure the products are active on the Shopify POS.
Did anyone have the same problem and manage to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help!
I would also love to solve the SKU/barcode scanning issue. We import our inventory to Shopify for ecommerce (using Vend/Lightspeed for brick and mortar) and use sku for everything, so there is nothing in the barcode section. If we want to use the app for events, we have to manually enter the product. It clearly scans, and we can search by SKU, but the barcode reader will not scan items.
If I go through and manually add the SKU into the barcode section in Shopify, I can use the barcode scanner in the app. We have thousands of SKUs, so manually entering them into the barcode field isn’t an option. It feels like there should be an easy fix!
Hi there, I know it’s been a while ago but we have exactly the same issue from migrating grom Lightspeed. All codes are set in the field SKU in stead of EAN. How did you manage to solve this? Would be great to have your feedback thanks!
We exported all of our products from Shopify to Excel. Then we copied the SKU column into the Barcode column in the spreadsheet. Finally, we reuploaded the spreadsheet to Shopify to update all of our products. It took a few days to fully update.
I wish there was a way to change which fields populate when publishing products from Lightspeed to Shopify, or have the SKU automatically populate the Barcode. Or have the scanner recognize either a SKU or barcode…
