Shopify POS - Receipt with more than 50 items

We recently had some confusion since we had a couple of in store purchases with item counts exceeding 50 (54 and 60-something in another case).

It was found that only 50 items were printed on the receipt.

The biggest problem with this is that the receipt has bad math, where it shows the SUBTOTAL equaling the 50 items appearing on the receipt, not the full order. However, the TOTAL appears correct, but it isn’t reconciled by the receipt; it’s confusing.

I would like to suggest an improvement to this situation in one of a few ways.

  1. Allow a receipt to be printed with the total number of items.

  2. If this is a limit of the printer for instance, make it so it lists 49 items, then the 50th item says “4 more items” with their subtotal appearing as that line item. This would make the math work out and be less confusing.

  3. Display some kind of banner or information before the receipt is printed that warns that there are more than 50 items listed on this sale and emailing a receipt is recommended.

Option 1 is idea. If not feasible, I think a combination of options 2 & 3 should be implemented.

I had this same issues. I had an order with 74 items purchased and did not know about the limit. Thankfully I looked at the order in the back end of shopify and noticed there was a bunch of items that were purchased but not on the receipt. I almost missed picking 25 items that the customer ordered because I always use the receipt to pick the items the customer orders in my store when processing online orders.

Why even have an arbitrary limit? Just have the receipt print as many items as the customer purchased. Why is this even an issue???
