I’m a Shopify product photo editing service provider. That’s why I have worked with many Shopify store owner to edit their product photos for their website.
I always make the photo size 2048 by 2048 pixels. These high-resolution images give store/website a professional and well-rounded look, with great zoom capabilities.
Now, my question is: do I always keep 100% pure white background for the product photos or I can use any light/gray color background?
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
We do recommend using a white background in most cases, and you can use some black to increase the shadow depths. However, this may also depend on the aesthetics of the store, so a light or gray coloured backgrounds could work as well. If you’d like to learn more about taking product images, then we’ve got an amazing blog on that here: Product Photography. We also have a guide on uploading images, where you can learn more about setting up a focal point, upload limits, and best practices for hero images (eg. slideshow, image banners, full-width images).
