Shopify reviewer keeps rejecting an app name that doesn't violate the guidelines. Anyone else?

Hey all, I’m in the final stages of app review and keep butting heads with my reviewer for some reason. Was wondering if anyone out there had faced a similar issue.

The official Shopify app name guidelines are pretty straightforward, and I proposed a name for my app that meets all the criteria. For some reason my reviewer doesn’t agree, but they won’t elaborate on why the name isn’t allowed, just claiming that it’s “generic”.

The name is anything but generic, it’s specific to my niche, and anyone in the industry would agree. I’ve already started going down the trademark route and to suddenly have the name be vetoed is pretty irritating considering it’s in line with the requirements.

My reviewer sent me messages claiming that changing the name “is gonna make the app easier for merchants to find” and other unprofessional language laced with typos. Despite my repeated explanation, they seem to be under the impression that I’m serving a different niche than I am-- maybe there’s a language barrier at play or something?

Has anyone else experienced this? It’s just been pretty exhausting and unprofessional to deal with. The easy solution would be to change the name, but I’m not violating any guidelines so that makes zero sense to me.

Rant over.

I’m going through this right now too. I agreed to change my name, but they want it to have nothing to do with its actual functionality. Apparently I need some nonsense word that has nothing to do with it. It is really irritating.
