Shopify says it’s card transactions are secure but how do I know?

If I have a customer who’s information is stolen from my site and takes it to court against me I can’t afford to pay all that money and spend all that time fighting in court. I need to know that I will have absolutely no liability and that I don’t need to worry about anything.

Hi there @goodrichhyrum !

I’d like to share some info with you here on how Shopify enforces security around payments.

It’s important to be clear first, however, that we cannot give legal advice of any sort and the information shared here should not be considered as such.

If you want to be sure of where you stand legally, it would be necessary to consult a qualified legal expert in your jurisdiction.

Stores powered by Shopify are PCI compliant by default to keep payment and business info safe.

There’s more info here on Shopify’s compliance reports if you want more detail.

As we’re not able to give legal advice from here, I would still recommend that you consult the Shopify terms of service as well as a qualified Expert where you are if you have legal questions.

Let us know if there’s any other aspect of Shopify you want to know more about!
