I tried setting up my first shopify store around 10 days ago, and didn’t even get to do anything before I got Store Under Review upon login, cant access anything. I gave my ID verification and business details , but haven’t had a response.
Topic summary
- A first-time merchant reports their store was immediately placed in “Store Under Review” about 10 days ago, blocking access to the admin.
- They submitted ID verification and business details but have not received any response from Shopify.
- Another participant notes this scenario is common during onboarding and doesn’t imply the merchant did anything wrong, offering empathy but no concrete steps or timelines.
- “Store Under Review” suggests a compliance/verification hold where access is restricted until documents are reviewed.
- No official updates from Shopify, no estimated review time, and no troubleshooting guidance were provided in the thread.
- Outcome: No resolution yet; the matter remains open with the merchant awaiting completion of the review or a response from support.
Hey bro
I understand how frustrating that is, especially when you’re just getting started — but this is actually more common than people think and it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong.
Hey bro
Oh i didnt know it happened often, but how long do these usually take to resolve?
Hey @austinxrs!
I agree with @jonjay This does happen sometimes with new Shopify stores and i know it can be really frustrating, especially when you haven’t even had a chance to set anything up yet.
Submitting ID and business details is the right first step, so you did the correct thing.
FYI, Shopify sometimes flags new stores automatically for review (risk checks, billing, region, business type, etc.). Even if you haven’t launched or added products yet, the review can still trigger. Reviews usually take a few days, but in some cases it can stretch up to 2 weeks. However, if everything checks out, access is restored automatically
For now, try checking your email (including your spam folder), as Shopify usually sends follow-up requests there instead of through the admin. You can also reach out to Shopify Support directly and ask them to confirm whether your store review is still in progress and if they need any additional documents from you.
Use the Shopify Help Center → Contact Support → Account issues.
Hope this helps you out man! ![]()
This is fairly common with new Shopify stores and usually isn’t a sign you did anything wrong. Reviews typically take a few days but can take up to 1–2 weeks in some cases.
Keep an eye on your email, including spam, as Shopify often asks for follow-ups there. If it’s been 10 days already, contact Shopify Support via the Help Center and ask them to confirm the review status and whether they need anything else from you. Access is restored automatically once the review clears.
That’s unfortunately a very common (and stressful) situation with new Shopify stores right now, especially first-time stores. Let me break this down clearly and realistically so you know what’s happening, how long it can take, and what you should do next.
What “Store Under Review” actually means:
Shopify has placed an automatic compliance hold on your store. This usually happens before you even start selling, so it’s not something you did wrong.
Common triggers:
-
Brand-new account + brand-new store
-
Using VPN or IP mismatch during signup
-
Certain countries/payment regions
-
High-risk product categories (even if you haven’t added products yet)
-
Automated fraud / compliance checks
This review is manual, handled by Shopify’s Trust & Safety team, not normal support.
And unfortunately, 10 days normal while checking your store.
What you should do now?
If Shopify ask for ID or Documents then send over to them with the same Email, that is connected with your store.
Or you can open a new Ticket ID if you already not open before. Also, you can check the Email spam folder, in case Shopify might send you email.
And it’s fact that Shopify don’t prioritize new stores in review queues.
Hope this helps.
That sounds really frustrating, especially when you’re just getting started. Unfortunately this does happen sometimes with new stores and reviews can take longer than expected. If you haven’t already, try replying directly to the verification email or contacting Shopify Support via live chat they’re usually the quickest to give an update or push it forward. Hope it gets resolved soon so you can actually start working on your store.
