Hello,
I’m trying to develop a simple shopify pixel application.
-
API Mess: Due to shopify’s inadequate documentation and constant version changes, even an incredibly simple pixel application doesn’t work. It’s unclear why they keep doing such a ridiculous thing as constantly changing the API. shopify is definitely a “developer-unfriendly” company.
-
Lying: Since shopify’s APIs are useless, I decided to write to support about API permissions. Support replied, “We don’t support our partners,” and said I could visit their Slack page for support if I wanted, but the problem is: the Slack page they linked to doesn’t exist. Does anyone know why shopify is lying?
The purpose of this post is:
-
Has anyone managed to get support from this company called shopify? I have a partner account, but they prefer to lie.
-
If you managed to get support from shopify, how did you do it?
Thanks
the pixel i mentioned aims to add a simple js code to the thank you page.
You can go to partner center and click support, I found they are pretty responsive and solved quite a bit of problems for me.
Thank you for the reply but what you’re saying about shopify support is an illusion (hallucination). shopify doesn’t provide support for anything. (In response to my request for support, they said, “post on the forum. someone might answer.”)
i’m trying to develop a pixel for a clients shopify site but their api is useless without support
The partner support provides support for PARTNER related issues ,not arbitrary misunderstandings of the api. For example them telling you to go the partner-slack is something to file an issue about because the partner-slack is being shuttered Dec 15th.
It is not there to be your personal development intern/expert because you don’t understand the platform yet; regardless of the docs being a mess.
So dial back the entitlement and be self aware you are not the first to complain like this and get nowhere and wont be the last

Make the effort to know where you are, these are the merchant facing peer to peer forums.
And this is an app subforum meant to help merchants with recommendation or general integration advice , says it right on the front, it’s not the fix-my-personal-projects subforum any such thing is a courtesy OTHERS can CHOOSE to give to those they want to interact with.
Even if this post were by a merchant with a “shopify support mess” complaint it be the wrong place despite how common or agreeable the sentiment is unless it was specifically about one of their standalone apps.
Just like going into support it’s the wrong place for this, your howling into the wind.
