Shopify Tax now charges .35% for in store POS transactions

I was dismayed that now Shopify Tax will charge for in store POS transactions starting in 2024. Has anyone else seen this take effect? This is would add an excessive amount of fees for using Shopify and Shopify Tax for simple in store POS transactions where the tax rate doesn’t change. The old policy exempted this fee for POS sales. Please change this policy Shopify, I will have to switch as this would add an enormous amount of fees to my account.

This is HUGE for us too as we do 95% of our sales in person.

This is truly a burden on brick and mortar. Shopify needs to rectify this otherwise I cannot use Shopify Tax which I would like to use for my E-Com store. It needs to go back to the way it was - charge .35% on E-com but in store was excluded from this excessive fee.. This is really taking advantage of brick and mortar folks who have a set tax rate so no need to have it adjusted.

Disappointing for sure. We have not activated Shopify Tax for this reason. I hope Shopify gives us a solution as we have started looking at other platforms.

Same here - This is ridiculous. My monthly bill was $100 more this past month. Absolutely disgusting given how awful their POS system is for brick and mortars. The lack of basic functionality is confounding given the hype. I can’t even print an order from the shopify app without using a different app that I have to pay a monthly fee for. I would have hoped that they would of developed some more of the basic functionality that brick and mortars need in a POS system before they started to charge us more fees. Shame on you Shopify…start reading your boards and make some real improvements!

what were the consequences of not utilizing the shopify tax button. I’m thinking of changing to the Basic but I don’t want to mess up the web orders or not have my POS taxes change. Our tax transaction fees have been over $500 the past few moths. We can keep eating that cost.
