Hi,
I’m working with a client to help them build out a new store. My client has an existing store and accidentally purchased a theme intended for the new store in the existing store.
Is there a way to transfer the theme license to the new store? The theme will only be used on the new store. The existing store needs to remain open as it’s a separate business and uses its own custom theme.
Thanks for your help!
Jeremy
Hello there Jeremy @jeremypb It’s a bit of a tricky situation but it seems like the person named “Skye” in this previous community thread here offered a viable process in transferring this theme for the benefit of your new store https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-design/can-i-transfer-a-paid-theme-to-a-new-store-without-repurchasing/m-p/1720477/highlight/true
Hey Emmanuel,
Thanks for the reply. I read that article, but the process notes that the existing store in which the theme was purchased needs to be closed in order to transfer the theme to the new store. This isn’t possible in our situation because the existing store needs to remain open. The theme was accidentally purchased to the wrong store.
Can we simply use the theme in the new store and delete the theme from the existing store? It will never be used on the existing store.
Thanks,
Jeremy
