Hi Emmanuel,

What is the best way to use Shopify Metafields for Google Merchant Center?

And are the Google “Variant” Metafields that appear on the Shopify Product Admin page required for all products regardless of whether they have a variant option, or strictly just for products with size, color, etc. variants?

Thank you!

Hello Elle, thank you for your question.

The variant attributes, are required if you are submitting multiple similar products that vary by color, size, material, pattern, age group or gender.

This will also increase your data feed quality by submitting these.

But you can submit these attribute also for products that don’t vary by these attributes, for example a single product.

I always recommend to add all optional attributes, and there are a lot more then you see there, have a look here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112?hl=en
