I noticed that every time someone pay’s in another currency on Shopify by PayPal, Shopify’s conversion api creates a loss for me with between 10-15% of the actual price. How can this be? The rate comes from Shopify’s conversion before charges are processed by PayPal. There must be a wrong conversion rate in the api.
For example, an item sells for £100 GBP. It converts into Euros via paypal. The payment we receive is now around £85-90 plus paypal fees.
There must be a way to adjust this because it’s quite a big margin on actual fees. We can’t keep raising the store prices because that would affect regional sales. It’s the conversion table that is inaccurate.
