Should I dropship to Sweden or the USA for less competition?

Hi

i want to dropshipp to Sweden from Oberlo

i have heard that it is more difficult to import to EU because of customs

so should dropshipp to Sweden or Usa? And what about competetion, is it easier in usa or sweden?

USA is one of the most competitive markets. It’s easy to get started and because everything is in English, everybody can start a business in the US.

Assuming that you speak Swedish, my recommendation is that you start there as you will face much less competition. Granted, the legal aspect is a bit more conplicated, but this also means that you will face less competition.

One thing that I would do before you start is to make sure that there is demand for the product. Best scenario is if there are 3-4 competitors who seem to be in business for a while, but you think that you can do it better!

Hi there, @Beka84 !

Definitely a great place to gather input here in the Community as we have a great group of contributors who can provide you with their experiences regarding dropshipping.

I know you mentioned Oberlo which is definitely a great company to consider. I have found this great blog post from them about international shipping that may answer some of your questions.

When it comes to dropshipping from Sweden, I have also found a couple other suppliers that may also work much better for you given their bases in Europe. Definitely worth the look as well:

I also have this article from us worth the look as you embark on this dropshipping journey: 17 trending products to sell in 2022.

Deifnitely let us know how this works out and I look forward to seeing what other contributors will have to say about your inquiry.

Hi @QM-Michael

should i always search for a product that is completely new and doesnt exist in the country or should i compete with existing sellers with products that are already here?

If you find a product that is selling well in the USA for example, but it is not available yet in Sweden then you got an opportunity. Most of the time you will already have at least a few sellers for the product. This is not necessarily a bad thing, you just need to have a better offer than your competitors.

Thanks @QM-Michael

I want to use 1 or 2 tools which will help me to find a winning product.

The tool that i am installing is Alexa site traffic and ecom radar. They are free.

Another tool which is not free is junglescout. I have been taught to search for products on amazon with junglescout and look at profits of products and sell it on shopify.

Can you recommend some other apps/tools in my search? And what is your thoughts about the tools i mentioned?

I don’t use Ecom Radar or Junglescout, but it might have some merit. Typically for my clients I use something like Ahrefs (they have a trial version for just a few dollars) to find out the search volume and the cost to advertise. It gives you a quick idea on how strong the competition is and the demand for the product.
