Should I separate clip on and regular earrings on my website?

Hello!

I need some feedback on my website regarding variations. I sell clip on earrings and regular earrings and a few people have brought to my attention that it’s hard to find the clip on earrings on my website. However, all the items are the website are available as clip ons as I have shown through the first photo in the product listing. There’s two options, one for regular earrings and clip on earrings. When you hover on the product listing, you can see there are buttons that say “clip on” and “non clip on”. Some of the items I have are one of a kind and I only have one in stock so they would have to click on the product to select the option.

Should I just separate the clip on earrings and regular earrings into two different product listings to make it easier to navigate? I usually don’t have a problem with this but a couple people have brought it up to me and I’m not sure if they are just not looking carefully enough or I should revamp my website to make it as easy as possible since customers are sometimes lazy. If I don’t separate the products, is there a different suggestion or option that someone can think of?

Please let me know your thoughts! I’d love to know a fresh perspective on what I should do.

The theme used doesn’t help at all.

You can add an an earing without selecting if it’s a clip-on or not, how did you set these up?

Customers should not be able to add an item to the cart without selecting a variation, when you hover over a set it does not give the options for clipon.

You can also add out of stock items to the cart.

It needs setting up correctly

Thanks for your reply. Regarding adding an earring to cart without selecting if it’s clip-on or not, those are a special case where there is only 1 in stock and I don’t have another way of putting the button there. I use an app called Advanced Options to have my customers select the closure option on the actual product page. There is no way for them to do coding to make it similar to the other products like hoop earrings unless I get ask a developer to help with coding. I don’t believe you can add out of stock items to the cart. Could you please let me know which product that is showing up for you that does that?

I would drop the Advanced Options, it’s not needed and complicates things

Either separate the products as I suspect people who want clip-on will search for these and the same for regular. Or setup Variations for the products, it’s simple enough, allows you to have a different picture for each item and will stop all the issues you have.
