I’m currently using the Canopy theme, and when I went to update it, I found out I have to basically recreate absolutely everything on the home page and add back all the design elements and images manually.
Are there any themes that don’t require a complete redo? I like Canopy - it’s really clean and simple, but I don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel every time I update the theme.
Any suggestions?
Unfortunately, the move from Shopify 1.0 Themes to Shopify 2.0 Themes doesn’t allow to have an automatic migration of the Theme contents.
Probably your current version was based on Shopify 1.0 and the new one you want to update is based on 2.0 so you need to recreate the contents section manually.
This is a one-time thing you need to do. Keeping your Canopy theme updated in the future should be easier, depending on the number of code customization you have.
