I’m in the late stages of getting my store ready to run paid advertising to and I am slighlty confused on the differences between Simprosys and the Google & Youtube channel apps on Shopify.
My understanding is that Simprosys creates a product feed, collating all of your product info and integrating it into your Google merchant center account, and that the Google & Youtube channel app does the same thing.
After doing some research online I saw one person saying that you should use both since the Google & YouTube app is better at tracking conversions and analytics, but Simprosys offers better product features. After reading this I looked into creating a supplemental feed to my existing Google & Youtube channel feed, but it turns out that you can only have one API feed going into merchant center.
So my question is, is there any advantage to using both Simprosys and Google & Youtube channel - if its even possible to set up both, or should I just be using one of them to feed my products from shopify into merchant center?
Regarding using both Simprosys and the Google & YouTube channel app simultaneously, as you correctly mentioned, Google Merchant Center only allows one primary feed through API. Attempting to set up multiple API feeds could lead to issues and might not be supported within the Merchant Center guidelines.
In terms of choosing between the two options:
If Simprosys offers specific features or functionalities that you find essential for your advertising needs or provides a significant advantage over the native Shopify app in terms of customization, it might be worth considering using it exclusively.
If you prioritize convenience and simplicity and find that the native Google & YouTube channel app on Shopify meets most of your requirements without the need for advanced customization, using this app alone might suffice.
Regarding tracking conversions and analytics, both Simprosys and the native app should integrate well with Google Analytics and Google Ads for tracking purposes. However, the extent of reporting and analytics features might differ, and it’s advisable to check their individual capabilities in this aspect.
Ultimately, it’s recommended to weigh the specific features, functionalities, and customization needs you have for your advertising campaigns to determine which solution - Simprosys or the native Shopify app - best aligns with your requirements and preferences. You may also reach out to the support teams of both applications for detailed insights and guidance specific to your situation.
Okay thank you, that makes more sense. So if I curently have the Google and Youtube channel app on shopify that is feeding my products into merchant centre and I want to move to Simprosys then I should uninstall the Google channel app and remove all of the existing products on merchant center before installing the Simprosys app and creating a new product feed?
Thanks for the reply Emmanuel. As Simprosys also integrates with GA4 I think I will use that instead of the Google and Youtube app. Do you know what the process would be for changing the apps? Should I just delete all of my products from GMC and then remove the app from Shopify, or could this cause problems?
Hello, I have the same issue with the user who created this post. I am using simprosys but have lost problems with conversion tracking. I like simprosys because I get to choose what product to sync to Merchant Centre. If I switch to Google & Youtube App, will I get the free to choose what product to sync and not sync? Thanks
First, thank you. You are the first person to make sense of this for me. I have the Google&Youtube. I have multifeeds. I can not for the life of me get multifeeds set up correctly, I get it here and there but darn…what a bit of learning.
Can I - 1. finish working with my GYT (although I have questions- see below) 2. when the multifeed runs it will take data that was set up in GYT and incorporate it? I am using 2 custom labels.
I’m so over it. Have been looking for someone who understands these 2 apps to hire and I just have no faith in anyone I have looked at (until I read this). Do you hire out?
in GYT- I set up sizes- it’s a range for the man product, and then when i put in each size for each product, it seems to still say that’s an error)- it doesn’t seem to save, help?
Thank you- you have inspired me to really dig into the Google/YT app. I think I have it set up correctly for my google ads guy, with on exception. He wants me to put custom label 1 to a price range- so we can see what is selling at the price mostly, to help dictate the ads. Then we decided to also use in custom label 1, the words TOP SELLER, so we can pick those out based on sales over the last 2 years. This is great, however Google/YT only allows the label to be put on the main product, not a particular size.- which of course google wants for ads. Any idea?
Just to clarify, Yes Google Merchant allow to have multiples feed for 2 differents languages with API. I have done it with third party modules. Just too expensive to use it.
Google & YouTube official module need to handle two feed but for a different languages. It’s normal to push products with 2 different languages. Google Search Console, Google Search engine will show results depending on the web browser langage.
They just need to improve their module. It’s just programming.
ok- a bit of an update. I used google youtube and multifeeds. - I kept both connected, which was not smart. The GYT feed " i believe" also attached the brand name to the product on google (not making the google ad guy very happy.- Ive detached the GYT and now am just using multifeed. I understand the program better which helps alot- I didn’t understand it and was really bashing around- I’m the founder, owner, no tech trained very small business person. I do this all myself, mainly because I don’t always know the words to ask for what I need, and I also have trust issues. So many people say I can do that, but they cant’. They think they will figure it out- and maybe they will but…I think for me this is the way.
for the conversion tracking server side tracking is good or symprosis conversion tracking and what will be the issues if i do simprosys conversion taking
I’m looking at setting up both apps, how do I ensure the Google & Youtube app is not submitting a feed. Is it the 'Product Sync Settings → Manually Sync Your Products OR do I go into products and turn off sales channel ‘Google & Youtube’ but will this affect the 3rd party feed app?
Just want to ask, can google’s merchant center feed allow me to map custom metafields to accepted merchant center attributes? For instance, variant options like color/size/gender, custom labels, etc. That’s the only thing that I think is justifying my usage of Symprosis at the moment.
