Hi Community,
I want the shopify search in my store to return a specific product, if the term the user searched for wasn’t found.
Could somebody advice on how to do this, please?
Thank you in advance!

I would also love help with this if anyone has figured this out!
Hi @kendoll ,
I would recommend checking out the Search and Discovery app to help your customers find products on your store.
Hi Victor,
I have that app but I don’t see a way to show a specific product if the search has no results. To clarify, if someone can’t find what they want in our store, we have a custom product and I want to show that so they can request whatever it is they’re looking for.
Thanks for following up with us, @kendoll ! The Search and Discovery app does allow you to make use of ‘Search Synonyms’ to help produce search results that are similar to what was searched. For example, you can create a synonym group for ‘pants’ in a way that if someone types ‘trousers’, then products tied to the word ‘pants’ are presented.
If this synonym grouping feature doesn’t quite hit the nail on the head for you, you’ll need to rely on an alternative third party search application that provides this specific functionality, or look into some coding changes that can be made for your theme that causes this product to be presented. Shopify Support Staff are not trained on code, so we can’t advise on specifics there, but I can suggest a third party application like Smart Product Filter and Search.
In respect to coding suggestions, it likely would be worthwhile for you to create your own topic around this specific functionality here in the Community Forums looking for assistance with this specific functionality. This will allow other members of the community who are versed in code to see your question and reach out to you on your post to provide suggestions!
