We are trying to move our e-commerce from our current website to Shopify. Our e-commerce is specialized in wine and other alcoholic beverages.
I would like to show some product specific characteristics on the product page of each product, for this i have created metafields with a single line of text added. An example would be “Country of Origin” or “Alcohol Percentage”.
This way, when i add a new product i can simply fill in “Portugal” under "Country of Origin or “16%” under "Alcohol Percentage.
I would like to show these product characteristics on each product page. I managed to do this as text but would like to show them inside a “graphic”, ideally with icons for each metafield.
Almost like a section on each product page that neatly shows all product characteristics.
Is this possible to do? I’ve looked for apps but they seem focused on adding things like “organic” or “gluten free” on each product page that has these characteristics but nothing that shows product specific characteristics.
Our current platform has this functionality build in, but i cant seem to find anything within shopify.
This is definitely possible to do, however, the solution will be quite extensive as it will require some custom building of section blocks, and then connecting those blocks to the metafields. The icons can be placed within a drop down menu (kind of what the Dawn Theme has, see screenshot below)
In addition to this, we will need to make this into a Grid display so that the items can be viewed based on the same display as your screenshot. Hopefully this has pointed you in the right direction. Let me know if you need anymore help!
That’s an interesting option we did not consider yet. Although it seems rather complicated.
I just set-up a “table” app, to show all product characteristics neatly i a table, but it looks very excel-ish.
Would prefer something more visually appealing, but it sounds like for this we would need some custom coding. We already have the icons we want to use, as we use them on our current website too.

I think the custom code route would be the best option especially considering that some APPS can slow down your store and if the APP is only being used to display a table, then the downsides of using an APP (slower page loading, subscription fees, limited customisation etc ) might outweigh the upsides of using an APP (having the table display the product information).
I can definitely help you build this exactly as you would want it. In addition, make it as customizable as possible so that you can change the icons, text when you want etc without needing to keep asking a developer! If you’d like to discuss this more, don’t hesitate to send me a PM
