Hi Shopify Team,
Currently Sidekick (AI assistant) only supports image uploads.
As a merchant managing 7000+ products, I frequently need to:
- Upload Excel/CSV files for Sidekick to read and verify data
- Get AI analysis on product pricing, descriptions, and inventory
- Avoid switching between multiple tools (ChatGPT, Google Sheets, etc.)
**Requested Feature:**
Allow merchants to upload .xlsx, .csv, and .pdf files directly
in Sidekick chat so it can read, analyze, and verify the data —
similar to how ChatGPT handles file uploads.
This would save hours of manual work for merchants managing
large catalogs.
Thank you!
You’re right that it’s broken. Just make sure when they add file support, you demand visibility into how it’s making decisions — 7000 products is too many to verify blind.
Hey! @VeraHome189
Totally get this request — once you’re managing 7k+ SKUs, “image-only” inputs don’t really help with pricing/inventory validation.
In the meantime (until Sidekick supports file uploads):
- For quick verification inside Shopify, you can lean on the built-in Analytics reports (Sales by product/SKU, Inventory reports, etc.) to spot outliers without leaving admin.
- If you need spreadsheet-style checks (compare price vs. cost, missing descriptions, variants with 0 inventory, vendor/collection inconsistencies, etc.), a reporting tool that already ingests Shopify data is usually faster than uploading files. Something like Mipler reports is handy here because you can build/export CSV/Excel-ready reports and essentially do the “verification” step from your live store data rather than bouncing between tools.
If you share what kind of checks you’re trying to run (e.g., “find products where compare-at < price” or “missing SEO fields”), I can suggest the cleanest report setup for it.
