Simple Theme - Change Pictures Layout on Product Page

I searched and could not find this in the community.

How do you change the picture layout on a product page in Simple Theme

  1. Move the thumbnails from the bottom (see picture 1 attached) under the main picture to the left side like you see in the Venture theme. (See picture 2)

  2. Include the Scroll for thumbnail images (see picture 2)

I have been learning about theme development but this one - I have not been able to get to work by just copying from the Venture theme to my theme in Simple. It does not layout right.
