Single product codes - multiple menus

Topic summary

Selling the same product across two marketplaces with different prices, URLs, and navigation menus while sharing a single Shopify backend.

  • Constraint described: Shopify allows one product record and one theme setting per product; it does not support assigning two different themes to the same product.
  • Initial request: Confirmation of this limitation and possible ways to avoid duplicating work.
  • Update/decision: Shopify support confirmed a single backend cannot power two separate storefronts with distinct themes/menus and pricing. To achieve the requirement, two separate stores are needed, even if product data must be duplicated.
  • Outcome: No alternative workaround was provided in the thread; the practical path forward is maintaining two stores.
  • Status: Resolved with confirmation from Shopify support; key question answered.

I am trying to sell the same product to two different market places at different prices potentially. Each market place uses the same back end but different url’s and has a different navigation menu. I am being told that I can only have one product on the Shopify backend, one theme setting per product, and not two separate themes for one product.

Can someone confirm this is the case or propose possible solutions which reduces massive duplication of work?

Hi Kathy,

I have had confirmation from the Shopify tech team that i will need to have two different stores even if the back end data is duplicated as I cant have one back end and two store fronts drawing from the same. thanks though
