I’ve been having trouble optimizing my page speed and am unsure what the optimal image sizes are for products, collections and hero. I am using the Dawn theme and my website is:

I sell veils and therefore the images are “portrait” orientation due to length of the product. Also, I’ve seen mixed comments about using png vs JPG for page speed.
If someone could advise the file type and dimensions for optimal speed.
The page speed is very slow, 39-42 range, and I do not have the expertise nor know how to help optimize it. I know that slow page speed also impacts Google search ranking. If someone can help, that would be greatly appreciated!

You cannot get high green score on theme optimization.
My advice is to use page speed optimization app to have around 90+ score
Try to use free app https://apps.shopify.com/page-speed-optimizer
I used this app below for most of my projects and I’ve got 98% score from 40%
