Hi - please help, im pulling my hair out!!! i am using status pro for personalised order update status, and Klaviyo for email/sms. I want to send sms at the final stage of production process - this is an order update not marketing. Klaviyo is blocking the email and sms updates (including order confirmation) because the customer has not opted in to sms/email. Can anyone tell me if there is a way around the marketing opt in please as this is order specific, not marketing which i believe has different regulations for communication. Thanks so much in advance!
Topic summary
Issue: Transactional SMS/email updates at the final production stage are being blocked in Klaviyo due to lack of customer opt-in, even affecting order confirmations.
Setup: Using Status Pro for personalized order status stages and Klaviyo for messaging. The desired trigger occurs at a custom production stage, not a native Shopify status.
Constraint: Klaviyo treats these messages as requiring marketing opt-in, despite being order-specific (transactional), which typically has different regulatory requirements.
Alternative considered: Shopify’s SMS capability was suggested, but the user notes Shopify still needs a plugin to send SMS, and their custom stage isn’t recognized as a Shopify status, preventing an automatic trigger.
Current state: No workaround or solution identified. Key open question: How to send transactional order-stage SMS/email via Klaviyo (or Shopify) without marketing opt-in and with triggers from non-Shopify status events. The discussion remains unresolved.
HI Nolan unless im missing something the sms part of shopify still needs a plug in to send sms, and the area that i need a trigger isn’t a shopify status so it is not recognised by shopify to trigger an sms? more than happy to be corrected on this!!!
