Solution for cloning Shopify HTML websites

I am suffering a lot from website cloning attacks. Customers are complaining and damaging my brand’s reputation, saying they did not receive their products. This is harming my business significantly. I would really like to know if there is anything I can do to prevent or minimize the cloning of my Shopify website’s HTML. Can you help me?

There’s a lot you can do. There are plenty of apps and things you can do to minimize bot scraping (which is most likely the root cause of your site being cloned) and make it more secure. You can run scripts, block countries, disable copy and right click, minify code, etc.

What have you done already to find a solution? Have you Googled anything? Browsed the app store? Or is this your first actual inquiry?

If you copy your entire post and paste it into Google Search, you will find just as good, if not better, advice than you will just blindly asking general questions, to which you will undoubtedly get copy/pasted responses that originate from a search engine or ai helper tool anyway. And you can always use the search function here in the community and read past threads.

There’s lots you can do but it without specifics it’s hard for us to give you solid advice that as Triffit said you can’t get from LLMs or Google searches. For instance, which countries are these sites operating in, have you issued DCMA takedown requests? From a technical perspective there’s also stuff you can do but would need to know about your setup if you’re using Shopify DNS or Cloudfare as a proxy for example.

**You cannot fully stop Shopify website HTML cloning, but you can reduce it heavily and protect your brand.

What you should do (in short):**

  • Add domain-check / anti-clone JS (breaks cloned sites on fake domains)

  • Use dynamic Shopify Liquid logic (clones don’t work properly)

  • Show clear “Official Website Only” warnings to customers

  • Monitor and quickly DMCA-takedown fake sites

  • Trademark your brand for faster removals

This won’t stop copying 100%, but it kills most fake stores, reduces customer scams, and protects your reputation.
