Issue: Google Merchant Center (GMC) diagnostics show “Invalid real number [unit pricing measure]” and “Invalid whole number [unit pricing base measure]” for products where these fields weren’t filled in Shopify and aren’t required.
Context: Merchants suspect Shopify’s Content API (which syncs Shopify product data to GMC) is sending these attributes. Google indicated the products don’t need them.
Key terms: Unit pricing measure/base measure are GMC attributes for per‑unit pricing. Content API is the automated product data feed. A supplemental feed is an additional feed in GMC used to add/override product data.
Workaround shared: Remove the unit pricing attributes from the Shopify Google & YouTube app feed (guided by linked videos/article), then reprocess the Content API in GMC. If using a supplemental feed, fetch it again after changes.
Outcome: Re-fetching the supplemental feed cleared the errors for at least one participant. Linked videos/articles are central to applying the fix.
Status: No official Shopify fix posted. User-shared steps provide a practical resolution; the thread ends with thanks, implying provisional closure.
Hello, Shopify content API Team,
Thank you for your support.
On our store admin page, we didn’t fill in the [unit pricing measure] and [unit pricing base measure].
But why at the Diagnostic of Google Merchant Center, there are some issues with the Invalid real number [unit pricing measure] and Invalid whole number [unit pricing base measure].
We contacted the Google API team and said our products don’t need to fill in these values,
since the content API is controlled by Shopify, Shopify updates the products by content API to Google, could you please check and solve these issues?
