@Bseuss thanks – that’s a pretty interesting question actually. (Do you prefer Deutsch, btw?)
I’m pretty sure that this community board messes with the original files too. Suggestions: can you zip the original file and upload it on wetransfer? That way, we should be able to analyze the original image. What software did you use to generate that original PNG, what color space and alpha channel settings did you apply?
But thank you for the fast answer. I checked your file and it works.
I dont know, if a SEO app is changing files, because, if I reupload things, they are fine.
But yes, I have this problem on multiple product. I dont see any pattern, because it is on pictures with black and white content and with color content …
You’re welcome – Awesome – great to hear that it works.
Here’s the solution and the “fix”: Seems like you were using a color mode that was unfit for the intended purpose. As far as I saw, you’re using Photoshop, correct? Then you should be familiar with these options:
All I did was change it from “Indexed Color” to “RGB Color” and saved the image again. I’ve seen image manipulation/resize/optimization libraries have their fair share of issues with color space other than RGB in the past. I assume that the Shopify algorithm doesn’t expect indexed color images or at least doesn’t necessarily handle them correctly.
Hope this helps!
Mario
