Some thoughts about dropshiping and customer service

Hi all,

I’m new to this community, so just a quick self-intro before I start.

I’m starting a new online shop focusing on pet products, and I am currently living in Shenzhen, China. My Ins is Vancouverjames, would like to connect and talk more about e-commerce with all of you.

Here comes my thoughts, I have been watching some vids on Youtube, everyone is talking about dropshipping, but after some research, I realize that a lot of products on Aliexpress are not as profitable as those Youtubers claimed in their vids, after talking to some manufacturies on the Chinese site of Alibaba, I found that many sellers jacked up about 2-3 times of the original price from manufacturies, which lead little or no profit for some beginners to do dropshipping. This is my first thought.

Other than that, I’m just wondering, how do you guys handle returns? If a customer is not happy with the product, and they want to return, internationally, how do you guys deal with it?

Many thinks in advance.

Hi @JamesInShenzhen

Keep the product and partial refund is the only solution. Since we sell only cheap products, the return shipping cost is almost 4 times the product price.

makes sense, thanks for your answer.

Another thing is that, I found the price on Aliexpress is not that profitable as Youtubers shown as they are so close to the selling price on Amazon or other websites. If we mark shipping cost up, it leaves almost no profit.

I did found some sellers with cheaper price, but they have very few or no reviews.
