a person used my personal email to sign up for a shopify account and create a store. in order for me to report this fraud I had to actually create a shopify account and create a store which i think is pretty bogus. I finally reported the fraud store using my email and i hope someone from shopify can see this and speed up the process. i am very terrified that in order for you to get assistance you need to create an account and store in shopify.

If someone did create an account in your personal email, you should be able to do a “I forgot my password” from Shopify’s logins to gain access to it and take control of it.
I’d recommend changing that personal emails password immediately either way to be on the safe side.
