“ Something went wrong. Clear the cart and try again.”

Topic summary

Issue: On Shopify POS (point of sale) for iOS 16.7, adding any product triggers a red banner “Something went wrong. Clear the cart and try again,” and the Checkout button is disabled. Clearing the cart doesn’t help; other iPad devices run POS without issues.

Confirmation: Another user reported the same behavior.

Resolution (from Shopify support, confirmed to work): Reset the Shopify POS app via iOS settings, then relaunch and log in.

  • Go to iOS Settings → scroll to bottom → Shopify POS
  • Toggle on “Reset Account”
  • Force close the Shopify POS app
  • Re-open the app, log in, and retry the transaction

Status: Resolved for those who applied the reset. No additional root cause or alternative fixes were discussed.

Hello, in my Shopify POS on iOS 16.7, every time I add any product to the cart I get a red message at the top that says “Something went wrong. Clear the cart and try again. And the checkout button is grayed out. I clear the cart and try again and it happens over and over again. Shopify POS works fine on my other devices (ipads) but not this one. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

We also have this problem. Any one have a solution for this?

For future reference, shopify support suggested this and it worked:

“So, the next thing to do here is reset the Shopify POS app. To do that, head to your iOS Settings → scroll to the bottom → click Shopify POS. There you should see a toggle for Reset Account, and go ahead and turn it on. After that, force close the Shopify POS app, re-open and login, then try to process the transaction once more.”
