I am getting this error more times that I am comfortable with. That happens 20% of the time when I click the checkout button from the Cart page. It appears that Shopify is trying to process the items and show the checkout page, before the data is ready. If I hit the refresh button from this error page, it works fine.

Is there a way I set a timeout, or create and auto-refresh if I get that error? Trying to find a simple working fix!

we get this error also from customers that use Shop Pay and our Wholesale App. Not sure if this is related but we are frantically trying to get this fixed between Shopify and the App.

Just to add to this - we have been getting a lot of reports of this happening too. We couldn’t replicate it ourselves and contacted Shopify support about it who also couldn’t replicate it either so we were told that we needed to suggest to the customer to try a different browser/clear their cache/try using the Shopify app to place orders - all the things that shouldn’t really be required of a customer to do to have a website work correctly.

I have now taken over one of our regular customer accounts that regularly orders from us and now can’t manage to place an order. Trying to place an order myself I get to the Cart page > Checkout > Address Page > Checkout > I then get the same error message. Now that I know that other people are experiencing the same issue I will get back in touch with Shopify support. Also useful to know that refreshing the error page allows the customers to continue to checkout.

we found that the error was coming from our wholesale app, when it was trying to create a draft order. We found a new wholesale app and now everything is working perfectly.

Which app were you using and which one did you switch to? We also use a wholesale app and the same thing is happening. Thanks

We did some testing with a specific account we know was having this issue and enabled/disabled discounting through a wholesale discount app called Wholesale Gorilla. The issue was definitely linked to the app processing orders through the cart. When contacting the app developers about this they suggested that theme changes we made might have thrown off some of the app code (We haven’t really made any changes but there are various changes we make in the theme settings that change banners etc which technically are not code changes but are theme changes). They also noted that our version of the app software isn’t the latest version, so they updated the software. Now when I do a test order using an account we know had issues before is no longer having issues.

We were using “Wholesale Pricing Discount”, and switched to “Wholesale - All In One”

We were using Wholesale Pricing Now WOD, and now switched to Wholesale Pricing Discount WPD and it’s working. LOL. SO i guess they’re all having problems

Awesome. I was looking at Wholesale Gorilla but ultimately moved from Wholesale Pricing Now “WOD” to Wholesale Pricing Discount “WPD” and it’s working great

If you aere bored, try an older wholesale test account and signup with Shop Pay (using that old account), then try the checkout. That’s when all our problems started. Mainly users who had used normal checkout previously and then checked out using Shop Pay. From that point forward – problems.

Any new accounts that used shop pay on the first try seemed to be fine.

Having the same issue here. Have you found a solution?

Yes, ultimately we linked the issue to our wholesale discounting app and when contacting them they effectively re-installed their software on our store which, as it turns out was an updated version too and everything was sorted.

I stopped using Wholesale Pricing Now “WOD”! There was another issue that app cause with capturing Abandoned Checkouts. I would stay away from them!!!
